Conversations with a 4 year old

- Picking Sarah up from day care - 

Group of kids standing around a large bucket.

Sarah:  No! Don't do that! (screaming, bending over the bucket)

Me: No, Sarah, don't be rude.

Sarah:  But he's taking all the dirt!

Boy:   See the worms! (showing me his hand)

Sarah: But I wanted them to dig big holes!

Me: Well, the worms need to be in the ground or they will die.

Sarah: Oh! Ok!

Getting into the car

Sarah:  Worms don't go in the bucket.  They might die.

Me: That's right.

- Supper time - 

Me:  Sarah, eat your supper.

Sarah:  No! That's disgusting!

Me: Eat it or wait til breakfast...

30 minutes later - happy plate

- Bedtime reading Sarah a story - 

Me: Brian, would you want to fix that thing I wanted after this. (as he walks past the door)
Brian: What thing?
Me: You know that stuff I said I wanted to have.
Brian: Oh! That stuff! Do you want it in a reusable container or edible container.
Me: I'll take a reusable container.

Never mention ice cream to a 4 year old at bedtime.  Use code when necessary.

- 20 minutes after lights out -

 

Sarah:  Mom! Come in here!

Me: What?

Sarah: I don't have a clock in my room!

Me: Because you don't need a clock in your room.
Sarah: But I need to see what time it is.  (she can't tell time)
Me: Well, we will put a clock in your room later.

Sarah: What's later?

Me: Not tonight.  Another time.

Sarah: Oh, ok.

So glad the weekend is over...

...now maybe I can get some rest!  It as been one busy weekend!

Saturday

Finished a project for work.

Fed Matthew.

Took the garage from this...

to this...

(Yeah, I know not a big difference, but that side really does look better.  I promise!)

Fed Matthew.

Sprayed primer on our two end tables that have been sitting in the garage, while our lamps have been sitting on the floor in the living room.

Discovered our vacuum cleaning had a crack in the casing, which explained why dust was coming back out. So we had to make an unexpected trip into town to buy a new vacuum (thankfully on sale).

Stopped at Lowes for grass seed & at Walmart for a few groceries. So that I could feed Matthew some more.

Cooked dinner for a church family who had a new baby.

Brian put out the grass seed and Daniel watered it in.

Watched a movie with the kids.

Laundry.

Watched a movie with Brian & Matthew (he had no where else to go, so he joined by default).

Fed Matthew.   
(The boy's appetite seems to have increased even more with the surgery!)

Ended up wearing this because it appears my wrist didn't like the spray painting.

Took benedryl, ibuprofen, and went to bed.

Sunday

Great worship at church.

Finished the grocery shopping.

Cleaned the kitchen.

Delivered the rest of the food I had prepared on Saturday.

Laundry.

Going to bed!

A Princess

You would have to be really disconnected from the world not to know that there was a big wedding taking place today.  I did not get up and watch the whole event (I enjoy my sleep much too much!). However, I did set the DVR to record it and then sat down with Sarah to "watch" it tonight. 

Classic elegance!  What a beautiful bride!

 

 

I just can't get over this hat!  It reminds me of an emblem over an old fireplace or something.

Sarah loved seeing the Queen!  She thought she looked beautiful in her yellow dress.

This was Sarah's other favorite part!

There was about 4 hours of recording and I think we went through it in about an hour, thanks to the attention span of a 4 year old.  She also decided to fix my hair while we watched.  I am not sure how many little plastic bands I ended up with, but it was a sight believe me!


Thankfully, I do not have to go to England to see a princess.  I have my own little princess right here.

At bedtime we read this book which was given to Sarah by some dear friends at her baptism.

 

 
In this story Gigi learns that she is the daughter of the greatest King of all.  She is the daughter of the King of kings.
